*scratches head* Your result for Roleplayer Test!... The ShipperRandom, Character-Oriented, Sexual As a Shipper, your focus in roleplay is romantic and sexual tension. It could be a certain ship or a variety of ships, but character relationships (and not the friendship kind) are what make roleplay fun for you. However, it's not necessarily sex: unlike the Smutfic, you're more interested in how and why and how your characters change and develop before they "get anywhere" rather than whether or not they actually do. You like to develop characters as much as possible, but often forget that any unrelated outside plot exists; you also tend to empathize with your characters a little too much: when things start going badly IC, it tends to mess with your OOC emotions. An HP meme borrowed from stmargarets, cut down a bit from the original version. 1. Favorite Book so far? PoA, although it's a really tough choice 2. Least Favorite book so far? OotP, although even that one has its nice moments 3. Favorite Book Quote? Well, it's a set of four quotes, but I've always loved the Marauder's Map's responses to Snape: "Mr. Moony presents his compliments to Professor Snape, and begs him to keep his abnormally long nose out of other people's business." "Mr. Prongs agrees with Mr. Moony and would like to add that Professor Snape is an ugly git." "Mr. Padfoot would like to register his astonishment that an idiot like that ever became a professor." "Mr. Wormtail bids Professor Snape good day, and advised him to wash his hair, the slimeball." 4. Favorite scene? There's so many good ones, but I think the Voldemort/Dumbledore battle in the Ministry Atrium is my favorite. 5. A scene that made you cry? Can't recall one offhand. 6. Number of times you have re-read the series? Several, not sure exactly how many. 7. Favorite character (s)? Harry, Hermione, the Weasleys, MWPP, the Order... The good guys, basically. 8. Most hated/annoying character (s)? Most Death Eaters, Umbridge, Voldemort 9. Which character do you find secretly annoying that others on your flist love? Snape. Sure, his wit occasionally amuses me, but I'm really quite tired of the whole who's side is he on debate and either way he's a throughly unpleasant man. 11. Which character do you secretly like that others on your flist dislike? Well, I have a soft spot for Peter Pettigrew, who seems to be hated by most of the fandom. 12. Favorite Spell? All the household-related spells - they'd make life so much easier sometimes! :^) 13. Favorite magical animal? Not sure. 14. Which magical object would you love to own? Probably a wand, as long as I would be able to do magic with it. ;^) 15. Out of these, which would you want to be? 1. A skilled legilimens 2. An Animangus (If this, what form?) 3. Metamorphmagus 4. Parselmouth 2, because it would be the most fun, even if I'd probably turn into a calico cat. 16. Which house would you be in? Ravenclaw, definitely. 17. What magical career would you like to have? Something that would involve inventive uses of Charms 18. Pick one to finish the sentence: Snape is _____ (a) Good (b) Evil (c ) A bit of both (d) I’m sick to death of hearing about Snape. D, strongly. 19. Craziest theory you ever heard. Dumbledore as a time-travelled Ron. 20. Your favorite crack!theory - One I came up with myself, that MWPP will die in the reverse order of how their names are listed on the Marauder's Map; The pattern's held so far, but hopefully there'll be a nice long gap between Peter's death and Remus's. My workplace can be cool :^)
One of the gifts we were given where I work for Christmas was plush monkies. With stretchable arms to fling them with. And make monkey noises when you fling them. I was quite amused. :^) | | Tuesday, October 24th, 2006 | | 4:42 pm |
I have a job! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
I just accepted a job offer for a position as a game programmer for a company that makes game machines for casinos! :^) I think it'll be kind of interesting, I'll be working as a programmer again, and we'll finally have some income coming in, something we haven't had since we moved out here to Austin. *does happy dance* I start Monday! :^) | | Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006 | | 11:33 pm |
Happy Birthday to me!
I had a fairly nice birthday, all things considered. I dressed up somewhat nicely and had lunch with Silvy at a good but inexpensive seafood restaurant after keeping him company at his work for a while. After that, he bought me a couple of Ranma 1/2 manga volumes I didn't have yet and we went home and I played Wild Arms: Alter Code F for a quite a while. | | Thursday, January 19th, 2006 | | 1:34 pm |
Because you (well, one of you) demanded it... ;^)
I suppose over a year is a bit long to go without making a post in this journal. Of course, I never know what to write in this thing that you folks won't find utterly boring, because my life being decidedly non-exciting right now, like it is most of the time. I am looking forward to taking a week's vacation at the end of February, though. Mostly because I hate my job. (Which, for those of you I haven't actually told, even though I've had the job for around a year, is doing telephone technical support for a call-center. The only good thing about it is that I get to use a Mac all day.) Definitely looking forward to quitting this job when Silvy and I move back to Northern Virginia, not that I know when that will be. Other than that, I've just been playing games, writing stuff for various fandoms (I'm mostly on a Harry Potter kick right now), drawing, and writing on a little Sudoku playing program for Mac OS X. So there you have it, what's been going on in my boring little life. | | Thursday, May 6th, 2004 | | 2:50 pm |
That Song Lyrics Meme
Put your player on random and for each of the next 25 songs, pick the lyrics sample you like best. Note them down and then let people guess what song was playing, from what artist. ( Lyrics. Lots of lyrics. )I'll be somewhat surprised if anyone manages to guess a few of these. | | Friday, February 20th, 2004 | | 12:05 pm |

Off to Florida... :^P
Well, later today my computer is going to be packed up for the move to Florida. The movers will be here tomorrow to load everything onto a truck. The day after we'll start our approximately 2 week trip to Florida. Hopefully I won't have killed my parents or Silvy by the end of it. ;^) I will be able to check my e-mail while on the road, but otherwise won't have much net access until the 28th or so. Practicing my bandwagon jumping skills...
Ask me a question. A question about myself, my life, personal, superficial, inappropriate, whatever and I will answer it the best I can. No anonymous questions, please. Find out all you ever wanted to know about my dull, boring life! ;^) | | Monday, April 8th, 2002 | | 5:37 pm |

My Colorgenics results...
You are the sort of person that needs a peaceful environment. You seek release from stress and freedom from conflicts and disagreements, of which you seem to have had more than your fair share .But you are taking pains to control the situation by proceeding cautiously..and you so are right in so doing so... You are a very sensitive person - The way things are ... you are under considerable stress ... and you feel that there is little hope of matters righting themselves. Everyone about you seems to aggravate the problem even more. You feel that at this time you need to be alone .... and you are right ... move back and give yourself a chance to breathe. You are a dreamer .. and you seek perfection in any relationship that you may establish. Some of your ideas and standards are over the top... so it may be a good idea to review your perception of life and accept people for what they are - not for what you would like them to be. The stress and tension that you are experiencing at this time is perhaps due to your inability to achieve security and appreciation from those closest to you. This is resulting in considerable pressures. You find the situation as it stands most frustrating. You are the sort of person that would like to experience all and everything very intensely .. but unfortunately you are not receiving the warmth and understanding that you feel you are entitled to. Matters are not going too well. You seek a sympathetic ear... but it is not forthcoming. This situation is extremely nerve-racking and what is more humiliating is that no-one seems to care and you are powerless to do anything about it. You are inclined to be too trusting and you feel that you need to be on your guard against the possibility that your endeavours and actions may be misunderstood. Too often you have been taken advantage of and you have been mentally abused. Now you are seeking a relationship which can provide peace of mind, where you can be yourself and not have the need to put on a false front... -- Hmmm. I think some of this is accurate, although I at least try to accept people as they are as opposed to how I might want them to be... Opinions, anyone? | | Saturday, September 22nd, 2001 | | 8:40 pm |
The elves have landed... :^)
Silvanis and I made it to Oregon earlier today, tired but otherwise fine. Now we just need our stuff to get here. :^) | | Wednesday, September 19th, 2001 | | 2:02 pm |
Moving...
For those of you who don't know, Silvanis and I are moving to Oregon, near Portland. We won't be online from later today until some time Saturday at the earliest, because we need to return our cable modem, clean up our apartment, etc. See you folks when we get to Portland and get set up there. | | Friday, September 7th, 2001 | | 2:42 pm |
Ooo, RPG Survey!
1. Your Name: Carolyn Vaughan 2. What would your name be if you were an RPG character? Tabletop? Depends on genre and what sort of character I'm playing. Console? Celeste. 3. Favorite RPG? Tabletop? D&D 3rd Ed. Console? There's too many good ones to choose from... Um, FFIX, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Lunar 2, Breath of Fire 3 are the top 5 for me at the moment... 4. Favorite RPG Character? Tabletop: Leah (my character from Nute's last campaign. Much fun to play, particularly when channeling Woo. :^) ) Console: Celes from FF6. 5. Japanese or American RPGs? Doesn't matter to me as long as the translation is decent. 6. Does it annoy you when the main female character is the stereotypical healer? Not particularly, as long as there are more agressive female characters as well. 7. The Final Fantasy Series- RPG God, or Highly Overrated? Highly enjoyable series that is not the be-all and end-all of RPGs, nor should it be treated as such. Oh, and FF Mystic Quest sucked rocks. 8. Final Fantasy 8- Refreshing change, or unforgivable mistake? Refreshing change. Square needs to avoid falling into a rut, even if not everyone likes what they try. 9. Magic or Fighting? Yes. 10. Why does the main guy always carry a huge sword? For the cool factor. 11. What number of party members form the ideal party? Tabletop: Not sure. Console: 4 12. Guns- Cool or pointless? Can be cool, but only in moderation and if it fits the setting. 13. What weapon would YOU equip? What, I'm supposed to actually hit things and not just cast spells? :^) Rods. 14. Is poison really that bad of a status effect? Depends on how the game treats it. 15. Fire or Ice? Ice. 16. Long summons or short summons? Long ones that offer the option to powerup, or the option to skip it for the short animation. 17. 2-D or 3-D? Either can be well done. Xenogears mixed 3D and 2D graphics well. 18. Claude or Rena? Rena. 19. Is Magus really worth getting? Only played through Chrono Trigger with Magus. 20. Chrono Cross- Decent sequel, or crude mockery? Decent sequel. And great music! :^) 21. Favorite RPG Main Character? Hiro from Lunar 2. 22. What's your opinion on the undead? Burning them is always fun. :^) 23. Could you tell Aeris was going to die before the end of disc 1? I believe I was told that she was supposed to die before I started playing FF7. 24. Are female lead characters acceptable? Definitely. 25. Do you usually find the "secret" characters in RPGs? Yes. 26. Ever made your own RPG storyline? Yes. 27. Have you ever played a fan-translated or imported RPG? No. 28. What do you think of RPGs based off of popular anime series? I've played the one based off of Magic Knight Rayearth, and it was a fun little time waster. 29. Which is better, being able to see your foes before you fight them, or random encounters? Either can work well, but if encounters can be avoided then the game developers should keep that in mind when balancing the bosses' challenge level. 30. Do you own any RPG soundtracks? No. I did napster the soundtracks to Xenogears and Chrono Cross, though. 31. Was Super Mario RPG a little too much? Never played it. 32: Pokemon- Your opinion? Somewhat fun to play. 33. If you were an RPG character, what level would you be on? Dunno. 34. What character class would you be? In D&D 3rd Ed. a wizard specializing in Abjuration (giving up the school of Illusion). Otherwise, a classic FF white mage. 35. You've just completed this survey! What did you think of the ending? It's over already? :^) Current Mood: amused | | Saturday, July 14th, 2001 | | 9:00 am |
Feeling survey sheepish... :^)
Your middle name: Celeste. It's French, and means 'the heavenly one'. :^P How long have you been online: I've been on the internet since 1994 or so, and was on Fidonet (old network of BBSes) starting around 1991. Superhero costume you'd look good in: Shadowcat's costume from early in Excalibur. Though I'd like to be a bit more in shape before running around in spandex. :^) Coolest scene you ever read/saw in a comic: I'm not good at picking a 'coolest' anything. What come to mind right now is the scene in Kingdom Come where Batman's talking to Superman, turns around to find Superman is already gone, and says, "So that's what that feels like." (Probably not the exact quote, but close.) Anywhere fictional; that I'd like to live: Astro City. (Agreeing with Redhawk on this one. It'd just be a damn cool place to live.) Last song you danced to: Can't recall. Household chore you don't mind doing: I don't like any of them, but laundry is the least objectionable. Friend you'd pick first on a sports team if you wanted to win: Well, if I was on a team it would probably lose because I suck at sports. Ignoring that, Nute or Redhawk. Sidekick: Whose, name, and what do you do? Hmmm. I'd say Jesse Quick, superhero name would be Contrail, powers would be flight and superspeed only while flying, and I'd be more of a partner/surrogate, helping out when she has scheduling conflicts between Titans stuff and running her dad's business, or if something nasty decides to show up during a board meeting, stuff like that. (Hmm, maybe I'd get a chance to meet Gar Logan.. :^)) Best soundtrack to any movie: Um, do I have to pick? Name three things you've got on you/by you, right now: A Sluggy Freelance t-shirt, the little stuffed frog that sits above my computer, and too many dirty plates/silverware. Name a language that you don't speak but would like to learn: I'm no good with languages, but it would nifty to watch anime in their original language, so Japanese, but it'll likely be a cold day in hell if I actually ever do. | | Tuesday, July 10th, 2001 | | 2:49 pm |
Not that I'll be at Dexcon...
But I figure this may be useful for anyone who might want to give me a gift in the future... What is your favorite: Flower? Um, I'm not sure... Morninglories are pretty, and any thing blue is good. :^) Gemstone? Sapphires (with or without stars) and Lapis Lazuli. Metal (gold, silver, brass, etc)? Definitely silver. Animal? Griffons, cats, horses Fragrance? Don't have one, and I'm allergic to many perfumes :^/ I do like the smell of the body wash stuff we have. Color? Deep blue with perhaps a touch of purple (not that my love of blue should be a surprise those who know me :^) ) I also like deep greens, golden yellows, and black and white always work. :^) Car? One that gets me from point A to point B with the least amount of hassle. And hopefully doesn't look hideously (like, say, a Ford Focus. :^P) Language? Not sure... Written Welsh looks nifty. :^) Style (classical, elegant, casual, eccentric, etc)? Casual. And I like Ren Faire stuff, at least when the bodice isn't so tight that I can't breathe. :^P Food? Shrimp. And strawberries, but not together in the same dish. :^) Outfit? Jeans and a comfy shirt. Do you wear: T-Shirts? Yes. Earrings? Rarely. I had a pair that I liked with bells on the end, but one of them broke. :^/ Anklets? No. Bracelets? No. I don't like having things on my wrists. Tattoos? No. Necklaces? Sometimes. Rings? My engagement ring, and another small ring that Silvy gave me at that time. Birkenstocks? No. Sandals? No. Hemp jewelry? No. Religious symbols? Very rarely. Nail Polish? No. Halloween costumes? Not for the past few years. Have you ever: Bungee jumped? No. Climbed a mountain? No. Gone swimming in the ocean? I can't swim, but I have been to the Pacific Ocean and gotten into the water at least. :^) Gotten a speeding ticket? Yes. Won something at a state/local fair? No. Won playing Bingo? No. Been on stage? No. Taken a walk in the rain? I sat out in a storm with Silvy once, but I get cold too easily to actually enjoy doing so most of the time. What's the: First thing you thought when you woke up this morning? Ow, my calf's cramping! Funniest thing you've heard recently? Can't think of anything. Last road sign you remember reading? I don't remember. :^) Oddest thing in your room right now? The empty jug of orange juice that's been sitting on my computer desk way too long. And last but not least: What do you want to be when you grow up? Um, at this point, employed would be good. :^) Other than that, someone who enjoys what they do, both at work and at home. |
